Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said in a chat on the social network Twitter on Monday that he would not allow his deputy, Radimir Cacic, to become "a victim of bad style" and that he had been thinking a lot about the question of Cacic's responsibility.

Last Friday a Hungarian court found Cacic guilty of causing a fatal traffic accident in Hungary two years ago, in which two persons were killed, and gave him a suspended sentence of 22 months with three years' probation. The sentence may be appealed.

Milanovic said that the sentence "basically didn't bring anything new", adding that in his political decisions he was guided by goals and not by opinion polls or people's tastes.

Speaking of political responsibility, the prime minister mentioned the ethical dimension, saying that in judging a person's political responsibility it should be seen whether they made a certain decision consciously or, as was the case with Cacic, an accident occurred out of negligence, resulting in the deaths of two people.
