Member of Parliament Ljubo Jurcic left the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Thursday, announcing that he would be running in the forthcoming parliamentary election on a separate slate, the public television network HTV said on Thursday evening.
Jurcic said he would not return his parliamentary mandate to the SDP in the election year because in his opinion he had done a great job in the party and thus earned his mandate. He said he was working on a new project and that his slate would include people who were mainly unknown in politics.
Jurcic said he had notified SDP secretary Igor Dragovan that he was leaving the party, but that he had not notified SDP president Zoran Milanovic because he had failed to meet him in recent days. He added that he was not at odds with Milanovic.
