A neon lamp malfunction was the cause of Monday's fire in the Studenac beverage factory in Lipik, eastern Croatia, county police spokeswoman Ivana Radic told the media on Tuesday.

The fire caught part of the manufacturing plant and part of a packaging warehouse on an area of some 1,500 square metres, said the State Protection and Rescue Administration, adding that 66 firemen and 19 fire trucks had been engaged in putting the fire out.

Several Studenac workers received medical assistance for excessive smoke inhalation. No one was seriously injured.

The fire was reported at 7.22 a.m. on Monday. It was contained at 9.45 a.m. and put out at 1 p.m.
