The president of the strongest opposition party - the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) - Tomislav Karamarko, said on Sunday the HDZ was seriously preparing to win the parliamentary election, refuting media claims about alleged conflicts within the party.
He described those claims as insinuations aimed at diverting attention from a big economic crisis in Croatia.
"After two election victories - those for the European parliament and local elections - the HDZ is seriously preparing for the third consecutive election victory - those at the parliamentary election. Clearly, some people have a problem with that so they are insinuating alleged conflicts within the party," Karamarko said in a statement.
