Prior to meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Tachi on Wednesday, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said that when Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic offered to mediate between Serbia and Kosovo he was expressing the position of Croatia's state leadership.

"We have recognised Kosovo's independence and support its full affirmation and success on the one hand while on the other we want the best possible relations with Serbia and if we can do anything to actively contribute toward this then I believe this is a good visit", President Josipovic said.

When asked to comment on Tuesday's ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) which found Slovenia liable to pay back 'old' foreign-currency savings from the now defunct bank Ljubljanska Banka to depositors outside of Slovenia and what effect this would have on Croatia, Josipovic said that the matter of this debt should be left up to Slovenia and Croatia to resolve. He added that from the very start of this matter he supported a just resolution which would "not overburden our neighbours in Slovenia on the one hand but also that depositors get their money".
