Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Gordan Jandrokovic said on Thursday that Croats working for the Montmontaza company in Benghazi had boarded an Italian military ship which was on its way to Malta.

"This means that all Montmontaza and Viadukt workers are now safe and we have solved those two problems, together with the two companies," Jandrokovic told reporters ahead of the government session.

"We will concentrate now on extracting people from central Libya. One airplane has already landed in Tripoli and now we are looking for ways to reach people in three cities and evacuate them to Croatia," Jandrokovic said.

He said that between 140 and 150 people, of whom not all are Croatian citizens but are employed by the two companies, are left there.

Asked how the evacuation would be carried out, Jandrokovic said that several options were being considered - by air and by land, adding that fresh information would be available later today.
