Commenting on Prime Minister Milanovic's proposal to nominate Darko Lorenicn to fill the vacant position of tourism minister, Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) president Ivan Jakovcic told the media on Tuesday that this was a step forward as Lorencin was in fact one of the two possible candidates for the job.

Lorencin, an IDS official, is currently the assistant economy minister for investments and competitiveness .

"That is why I have been meeting with people in the private sector in tourism these days as they have explicitly said that the minister should be someone of that profession", Jakovcic said.

He added that Lorencin was a reputable member of the party and that he would have no problems in running the tourism ministry.

Jakovcic announced that he had called a press conference later in the day.

Unofficial sources report that IDS intends to propose the CEO of the Brijuni-rivijera tourism company, Ratomir Ivicic, as deputy tourism minister.
