The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) will conquer the entire Croatia in the June 2 local election runoff, the strongest opposition party's leader, Tomislav Karamarko, said in Knin on Sunday.

After that, the HDZ will prepare well for a parliamentary election and will put the so-called social democracy in its place, he said.

He said Croatian citizens had recognised the HDZ's strength. "They see the HDZ as a good party which has changed and improved and has many young and good people."

Karamarko said the government "is rotting and falling apart... Unfortunately, this very bad government is affecting the situation in the state, which isn't good."
