Croatian swimmer Duje Draganja won gold in the finals of the men"s 100m individual medley event at the 13th European Short Course Swimming Championships in Istanbul on Sunday.

Draganja's time of 51.20 seconds set a new Croatian record.

"I have to apologise to Peter (Mankoc of Slovenia) that I grabbed away his tenth successive title in this event. It"s my first year in the 100m individual medley and I think I shall continue swimming it, but this event is just for fun to me," Draganja said.

Sergey Fesikov of Russia won silver with the time of 51.29.
Slovenian Peter Mankoc won the bronze medal with the time of 51.52.

Peter Mankoc's title winning series stopped short: He had been European short course champion since 2000
The championships in Istanbul are being held from 10 to 13 December. Draganja already won the silver medal in the men's 50 metres freestyle on Thursday.
