The bankruptcy of the Gredelj rolling stock factory is not a political decision but a ruling made by the Commercial Court, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic said on Wednesday dismissing unionists' accusations of a politically-motivated bankruptcy.
An examination of Gredelj's revenues and expenditures shows that the situation is untenable, with the company's debt to the creditors and suppliers reaching half a billion kuna, the minister told reporters after an international conference on railways in Zagreb.
He said that there was a prospect of Gredelj continuing production, and added that of some 1,400 workers currently on the company's payroll, more than 1,000 jobs could be preserved.
