A convoy of vehicles transporting members of the Croatian and Austrian contingents in the UNDOF peace mission, deployed at the Golan Heights, was attacked near the airport in the Syrian capital of Damascus at about 1500 hrs local time Thursday, and none of the Croatian troops was injured, the Croatian defence ministry said in a press release on its web site on Thursday afternoon.
In the incident, four Austrian troops sustained injuries, however, none of Croatian peacekeepers was hurt. The injured Austrians are not in a critical condition.
The convoy which came under attack had been transporting the Croatian and the Austrian peace-keepers to the airport as they were to fly back to their respective homelands.
The return of this part of the Croatian servicemen in the UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Observer Force) mission is expected later in the night at Zagreb Airport.
