A majority of Croatia's households, 54%, say that their financial situation is now worse than a year ago, and one third of the households, covered by a survey conducted by the GfK pollster this June, fear that their financial situation will further deteriorate next year.

Nearly a half of those polled say they can now hardly make their ends meet, and a majority of them are in the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia.

As many as 60% of the households hold that Croatia's economic situation would get worse in the next 12 months, and of them, 25% are afraid of the considerable worsening of the situation, and 35 % say it would be a bit worse. Also, 31% of those polled say the country's situation will not change and only 6% believe that it will take a turn for the better.

A mere 4% of households report improvement in their economic conditions compared to a year ago. As many as 41% say nothing has changed, and 54% report deterioration.

As for the prospects of their economic conditions, 13% of households hope that their financial situation would slightly improve in the next 12 months, and 50% estimate that nothing will change, while 33 % fear that their economic condition would worsen.
