Citizens of Croatia will not need their passports, but only their ID cards, when travelling to Serbia after Croatia joins the European Union on July 1.

Zagreb was formally notified on June 20 of Serbia's decision to add Croatia to the list of EU countries whose citizens are allowed to enter Serbia with their ID cards.

The head of the Border Police Department at the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, Nenad Banovic, has said earlier that there will be no drastic changes to the border crossing regime with Croatia after it enters the EU on July 1, and that citizens of Serbia will able to travel to Croatia with their passports and without any additional requirements.

Basically, control at the border crossing points between Serbia and Croatia will remain at its present level, Banovic said on Monday.
