The Initiative for the Defence of Croatian Vukovar on Sunday issued a statement vowing "to protect Vukovar against chaos" and that this group, set up by opponents of signs in both Cyrillic and Latin on public institutions in Vukovar "would not give up at any cost" and will spare no effort to ensure the "victory of reason".
This group recalls that this past week it forwarded to the government and the parliament its proposal for dialogue and "last warning" about prevention of chaos.
It said that a 44-strong coordinating body consisting of representatives of war veterans and victims from the 1991-1995 war as well as of farmers and members of the Catholic Church would start soon working. This body was set up last Friday.
