82% of Croatian companies feel effects of economic crisis

The economic crisis is being felt in 82 per cent of Croatia's companies, according to findings of a survey conducted by www.MojPosao.net, a leading jobsite in Croatia, and by business.hr,, a business news portal, in December 2009 among more than 1,500 respondents.

Around eight out of ten respondents said that the economic crisis was beingfelt in their companies.

In addition, 11 per cent of all those polled said that the crisis had notyet affected companies in which they worked but they were sure that it wouldsoon affect them.

On the other hand, a mere five (5) percent of all the respondents do notbelieve that the companies for which they work will be affected by the crisis.

In addition, two (2) percent of all the respondents said that the crisis hadproduced positive effects on the performance of their companies.

Every second respondent holds that the crisis will continue for one or twomore years.

The most pessimistic respondents (43 per cent) fear that the crisis willlast longer than that.

Only seven (7) per cent are optimistic about the crisis ending this year.

Broken down by ownership structure of companies, the most pessimisticrespondents work for Croatian institutions. They are followed by those workingfor state-run companies.

The most optimistic forecasts about the duration of the crisis were given byemployees in private companies.

On the other hand, 20 per cent of respondents consider employment incompanies owned by foreigners to be ideal.

According to the survey, 18 per cent prefer working in state-runestablishments.

Working for Croatian private companies is the least popular (17 per cent).
