Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic is announcing a better economic situation in 2013 with unwarranted optimism, the president of the Croatian Trade Union Association, Ozren Matijasevic, told a news conference in the southern coastal town of Sibenik on Wednesday.

Despite their efforts, unions have not managed to find relevant data that would indicate a change for the better. The industrial production went down 5.5 percent, unemployment in July went up 4 percent, net salaries were reduced by 1.9 percent, the foreign debt went up and insolvency is skyrocketing, Matijasevic said.

You need to start doing what you have been elected for, Matijasevic said criticising the government.

He supported the request by the Labour Party that an urgent parliamentary session be called to discuss the privatisation of the Hrvatska Postanska Banka and the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company.
