Three suspects charged with buying information from two policemen arrested previously concerning covert investigations were brought before the Zagreb County Court on Monday and remanded in custody for one month.

The national anti-corruption office USKOK initiated an investigation into the three suspects along with the two policemen charged with a conspiracy to commit crime, misuse of position and authority, and bribe giving.

The three suspects chose to remain silent as their line of defence.

Deputy USKOK chief Margaret Bulog Grozdanic told reporters that several witnesses would be questioned but did not reveal how many or the amount of bribes offered to the two policemen involved.

Media speculates that the information the two policemen gave away related to some delicate investigations of economic crime which compromised some investigations relating to organised crime.
