Parliament strips Jovanovic of immunity

The Croatian parliament (Sabor) on Friday secured the necessary quorum for the voting on items, as 77 deputies attended the session.

Parliament adopted the law invalidating war crimes indictments from the former Yugoslavia and Serbia by a majority vote.

Also adopted by a majority vote was the declaration regulating cooperation between the judicial authorities of Croatia and Serbia in some segments. Deputies also stripped Zeljko Jovanovic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of parlaimentary immunity from prosecution. A total of 67 deputies were in favour, seven were against and three abstained from voting on stripping Jovanovic of parliamentary immunity.

The SDP announced party president Zoran Milanovic and deputy Jovanovic would address the press later today.
