Serbia's industrial output jumped 5.2% in the first quarter of 2013, which helped the country's GDP to rebound by 1.9% in Q1, after it contracted in all four quarters in 2012, the Serbian finance and economy ministry reported on Monday.

The latest figures about the Serbian GDP, provided by the national statistical agency, have been interpreted by the ministry as evidence that the country's economy has exited from recession.

Broken down by industrial branches, the largest headway was made in the automotive industry with a trifold rise. Also, a significant increase was registered in production of petroleum products, as well as in chemical and pharmaceutical industries and in the textile sector,

The ministry said in a press release that it was aware of hardships in other branches which was why it would step up efforts to improve the situation where it was necessary.
