Jadranka Kosor, an MP of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) facing expulsion from the strongest opposition party, refuted on Wednesday independent MP Ivan Grubisic's announcement that she would join his group of independent members of parliament, saying she had only asked the parliament's registrar for a table and a chair to prepare for discussions.

Kosor told reporters she would not join Grubisic's parliamentary group and that "the process against me in the HDZ" was not over yet.

She publicly thanked Grubisic for the possibility to join his group. He said earlier today that parliament's registrar had asked him to accept Kosor in his group since she was no longer in the HDZ group.

Kosor said she would not join any group when the process against her in the HDZ ended. "The process of my expulsion from the HDZ isn't over yet. Even though the decision was published in Slobodna Dalmacija (daily) last week, before I saw it, I received it only yesterday and decided to exert the possibility to appeal the decision."

Kosor said she would lodge the appeal with the HDZ Presidency, the body which approved the proceedings against her.

The HDZ high court of honour on Friday decided unanimously on the unconditional expulsion of former party president and former Prime Minister Kosor from party membership after they found her media statements detrimental to the party's reputation and structure.
