More and more people in Croatia see their future outside the country owing to the present economic crisis, according to a survey conducted by MojPosao among 1,200 visitors to this job-seeking website.

As many as 99% of the respondents said they were ready to move away for work or for a better job, 76% said they did not know whom to contact regarding movement abroad, while more than half said they had never applied for a job abroad.

The survey showed that 51% of those interviewed were ready to move anywhere for the sake of work, while 47% said they were ready to move only abroad.

Unemployed respondents showed a greater readiness to move away, with 54% saying they would move anywhere for work, while 53% would move only within Croatia.

Younger people were more flexible, saying it would make no difference to them where they would move to, while older respondents said they would prefer moving abroad.

The poor economic situation in the country was cited by 88% of those polled as the main reason for moving abroad. Other reasons included a desire for a better standard of living (87%) and career advancement (68%).
