Environmental Protection Minister Mirela Holy has reported to the police that she has received death threats and the police are making a security assessment, Holy's spokesperson Marina Haluzan told reporters in Split on Tuesday.

Holy was attending in Split a round table discussion on plastic waste.

"The threats are not new, the minister received them a few months ago as well, and relevant services are doing their job and will make a decision accordingly," Haluzan said.

She recalled that a few months ago the minister received threatening phone calls and letters.

Asked if those threats could be related to Holy's plans to make order in the system of PET packaging collection, as claimed by some web portals, Haluzan only said that it was up to relevant services to find out.
