Veljko Ostojic, who resigned as tourism minister earlier today, said he had submitted his resignation under pressure caused by unfounded accusations and a broad-scale campaign which prevented him from performing his duties professionally, according to standards which he and his team set in the Tourism Ministry.

"I am resigning as tourism minister in the Croatian government over pressure exerted on me, which is the result of unfounded accusations and untruths. This large-scale campaign has prevented me from doing my job following professional standards which my team and I had set in the Ministry in the past period," Ostojic said in the statement carried by the Tourism Ministry.

"I hope the Ministry, for the sake of this country, will continue on the same path we took and that it would continue the projects we have launched," said Ostojic who is scheduled to address the press tomorrow at noon.
