Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Friday held talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy about Hungary's upcoming presidency over the European Union and the need that Croatia join the Union as soon as possible, according to the Hungarian news agency MTI.

We want Croatia to become part of the EU as soon as possible, said Orban after the talks.

Sarkozy reaffirmed France's support for the EU integration of Balkan countries, agreeing with Orban that the completion of the entry talks with Croatia was not far.

However, it is more important to reach a good agreement, rather than a quick one, said Sarkozy.
