More than 500 handguns have disappeared from a police warehouse in the Zagreb neighbourhood of Soblinec, Croatian Television (HTV) reported in its late night news broadcast on Thursday.
Three people are under investigation and one of them is an employee of the Ministry of the Interior, the HTV reported.
The police would not reveal any details regarding the investigation.
Zagreb Police Department spokesperson Jelena Bikic said that the investigation would probably be expanded to include more people and that more detailed information would be made public once the investigation was completed.
