The director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Vinko Mladino, was placed in custody on Monday evening after being questioned by investigators from the national anti-corruption office USKOK in connection with the Fimi Media corruption scandal, his lawyer said.
A Zagreb County Court investigating judge is expected to decide on Tuesday on whether or not Mladineo will be placed in investigative prison.
Mladineo was arrested on Monday morning on suspicion of abuse of office. According to unofficial sources, he is suspect of signing contracts with the Fimi Media marketing agency through which money was siphoned from public companies and government ministries.
