Croatian Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko on Monday evening refuted claims that he had put police in the function of politics, stressing that he would follow the law to the letter.

"I cannot say on whose door will we knock next. I can only say that we will follow the law to the letter and that we will come to the doors of each person suspected of committing a crime," Karamarko told Croatian Television asked if the ongoing investigations would lead to the doors of former prime minister Ivo Sanader.

Karamarko once again refuted claims that he had put the police in the function of politics, stressing that he was a nonparty minister.

He also dismissed claims that the ruling coalition was pressuring him to arrest some members of the oppositions Social Democratic Party (SDP) in order to maintain balance.
