The Croatian People's Party (HNS) is to hold an electoral convention on Saturday, 23 March and when the incumbent party leader Radimir Cacic is expected to step down as he has announced after a final court ruling for his imprisonment, and deputy leader Vesna Pusic, who is the only candidate as his successor, will be elected to take the helm of the party.

Cacic is expected to step down following a court ruling sentencing him to jail for a fatal car accident he caused in Hungary in 2010.

The party's presidency has reported that the convention being held ahead of European and local elections will be an opportunity to send a message of the party's unity.
