A hearing in the trial of former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader was postponed on Monday after two summoned witnesses failed to appear before Zagreb County Court.
Sanader and his former party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), are on trial for siphoning off funds from state institutions through the Fimi Media marketing agency.
The defence eventually decided not to summon one of these witnesses, but recommended that the other be examined at the next hearing scheduled for September 16. Accounting experts are to be heard on September 17 and 18.
Judge Ivana Calic said that the presentation of evidence was drawing to a close, indicating that the trial in the biggest corruption scandal in the country could be completed this month or the next.
