Post offices are open Mon-Fri 0700-1900 and Sat 0700-1300. Some may be open until 2200 in larger cities. Stamps are available in post offices and from news stands. www.posta.hr

Public phones use magnetic cards; you can buy these from post offices or news stands. When making long-distance and international calls, it's usually easier to go to the post office, where you're assigned a cabin and given the bill afterwards

Croatia participates in the Trans-Asia-Europe (TEL) fiber-optic project, which consists of two fiber-optic trunk connections with Slovenia and a fiber-optic trunk line from Rijeka to Split and Dubrovnik

Croatia is also investing in ADRIA 1, a joint fiber-optic project with Germany, Albania, and Greece.

Internet access is readily available in the capital and most towns and cities; expect to pay around 20kn per hour.
