The attempt by Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic to agree with the Bosnian Serb entity authorities Bosnia and Herzegovina's foreign political moves is a very dangerous act which jeopardises everything that the presidents of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia agreed on at a meeting in Brijuni in July, a diplomatic advisor to Bosnia's Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic has said.

"The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Sarajevo and Jeremic should be aware of that. Bosnia's Foreign Minister is Sven Alkalaj and he is the person with whom one should discuss Bosnia and Herzegovina's activities in international organisations," Nerkez Arifhodzic said in an interview with Oslobodjenje daily of Saturday.

During a visit to Banja Luka on Thursday, Jeremic asked the president of the Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, to use his influence to ensure that Bosnia and Herzegovina supported Serbia's position at a forthcoming discussion at the UN Security Council focusing on Kosovo.

An experienced diplomat, Arifhodzic said Jeremic's act actually meant insistence on the international personality of the Serb entity of Republika Srpska.

"That is a very dangerous position and brings into question the progress of what had been agreed in Brijuni," said Arifhodzic.

He added that it was unclear why Serbia was now insisting on discussing the issue of Kosovo at the UN Security Council when it was obvious that nothing dramatic would happen there.

"Jeremic is trying to transfer an internal Serbian issue and the realities in Kosovo to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is not good," Arifhodzic said.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only former Yugoslav country that has not recognised Kosovo, the reason being opposition from the Bosnian Serb authorities which follow the policy of the authorities in Belgrade on the matter.

Arifhodzic said the current situation would not change any time soon and called for a better awareness of differences of opinion.
