The Big Golden Arena for Best Film in the 59th edition of the Pula Film Festival goes to "Pismo Caci" ("A Letter to My Father" in an unofficial translation), the festival 's jury told a news conference in that biggest Istrian city on Saturday.

According to the jury's explanation, this film directed by Damir Cucic is a deeply moving and convincing story about the relationship between a father and a son in the patriarchal environment where men refrain from tenderness.

The audience award for best film screened at the festival goes to "Halimin Put" ("Halima's Path" in an unofficial translation) by director Arsen Anton Ostojic.

A special Golden Arena for technological innovations was awarded to Jozo Patljak, the director and the producer of "Slucajni Prolaznik" (Accidental Passer-By), the first Croatian three-dimensional film. Patljak was given this award for "pioneer introduction of 3D technology in Croatia's cinematography".

The award-giving ceremony will be held in Pula on Saturday evening, marking the closing of the seven-day national festival which was opened last Saturday at a ceremony which was attended by Croatia's President Ivo Josipovic and the United Nations' Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as special guests.
