Croatia high jump queen and European Athlete of the Year Blanka Vlasic, won in the High Jump Women category at the Dunlop Golden Grand Prix in Shanghai on Sunday by clearing 194 centimeters.
The incumbent world and European champion then tried to clear 197 cm but failed three times.
In 2007, Vlasic cleared 202 cm in Shanghai, which remains the meeting's record.
The meeting in China is the second leg of this season’s Samsung Diamond League.
Last year, the 27-year-old Vlasic was the only athlete to complete a full-set of seven Diamond League victories.
In addition to chasing her third consecutive world title outdoors in Daegu, South Korea, later this summer, there will also be huge interest to see whether she can finally break the world record of 2.09m that has belonged to Bulgaria’s Stefka Kostadinova since 1987.
Vlasic is equal second on the world all-time list after she cleared 2.08m on home soil in Zagreb two years ago.
