The European Union of Sports Press (UEPS) has named the Croatian high-jumper Blanka Vlasic and the German Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel Europe's best athletes in 2010.

This is the second consecutive year Vlasic has been named Europe's best female athlete by the UEPS.

The UEPS best athlete award bears the name of the prominent Slovenian sports reporter Evgen Bergant.

The UEPS title is the fourth title awarded to Croatia's high-jump record holder by foreign sports reporters.

The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) has named Vlasic the world's best female athlete in 2010.

One of the world's most renowned sports dailies, Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport, has named her one of the ten female athletes the year 2010 would be remembered for, and she has been chosen Europe's third best athlete in 2010 by European news agencies, after the tennis player Rafael Nadal and Vettel.

Also, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has named her the world's best track and field athlete in 2010. The Croatian sports paper Sportske Novosti and the Croatian Olympic Committee have chosen her as Croatia's best woman athlete.
