Serbia's Prime Minister Ivica Dacic on Monday stated that Serbia should not sink into self-isolation and collective paranoia because Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac were acquitted. He said that Gotovina's invitation to refugee Serbs to return to Croatia was hypocritical.

"We can't shoot ourselves in the head. We can't go around winging because the international community is unjust. Had Serbia been strong this never would have happened", he said at a press conference in the Vojvodina parliament in Novi Sad.

He said that the acquittal of the generals will now impact Croatia's suit against Serbia for genocide submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). There would be no reason now for Croatia to withdraw its suit.

Asked how the verdict in The Hague would impact relations between the two countries, Dacic said that these relations never existed.
