The Serb Unity Coalition has announced it will demand an explanation concerning budgetary funds allocated to the Serb People’s Council (SNV), expressing doubt that the funds were allocated for the purchase of the election for councils and representatives of national minorities.

The Serb Unity Coalition recalled that the government at its closed session granted the SNV HRK 1.35 million from the 2011 budget, of which HRK 1.2 million is earmarked for the development of institutions of the Serb community in Croatia and HRK 150,000 for the reconstruction of a monument in the village of Srb.

If the government is allocating HRK 1.2 million for the development of institutions, the public must know which institutions will be given these funds, what this development programme includes and what results can be expected, the Serb Unity Coalition said.

The coalition asked the government why the development of Serb institutions was non-transparent.

The coalition brought into question the government’s brief explanation, adding it would demand the documentation by which the SNV requested the funds.

The coalition said it believed that the “development of institutions” was being used to cover up the allocation of tax payers’ money to the SNV, run by Milorad Pupovac who is also the president of the Independent Democratic Serb Party, so that he can buy the elections for councils and representatives of national minorities.

"This is the continuation of a long-standing political corruption in which Milorad Popovac is selling for money three representative votes which he controls ....the prime minister and Pupovac are continuing their game, that was also played by Sanader who had given Pupovac millions of budgetary funds, without explanation", the coalition said in a statement.

Members of the Serb Unity Coalition are the Democratic Serb Party, the Serb People’s Party, the News Serb Party, three county Serb minority councils, the community of Serbs in Croatia and the Serb Democratic Forum.
