HDZ coalition leads in 12 counties, SDP in four

Candidates of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)-led coalitions for county prefects lead in 12 out of 20 counties, while those of the SDP-led coalitions lead in four, according to initial results of local elections released by the State Electoral Commission on Sunday evening.

HDZ candidates for county prefects lead in Zagreb County, Karlovac County, Virovitica-Podravina County, Brod-Posavina County, Zadar County, Sibenik-Knin County, Vukovar-Srijem County, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Lika-Senj County, Split-Dalmatia County, Pozega-Slavonia County and Koprivnica-Krizevci County.

SDP candidates lead in Sisak-Moslavina County, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Krapina-Zagorje County and Varazdin County.

The coalition of the People's Party (HNS), the Social Liberal Party (HSLS), the Peasant Party (HSS) and two regional parties leads in Medjimurje County. The coalition of the Croatian Democratic Peasant Party (HDSS), the HNS and the Pensioners' Party (HSU) is in the lead in Bjelovar-Bilogora County, while the coalition of the Istria Democratic Party, the HNS and the Green Alliance leads in Istria County. The coalition led by the Croatian Democratic Party of Slavonia and Baranja leads in Osijek-Baranja County.
