The defence team for General Ante Gotovina said on Tuesday they would report former Hague war crimes tribunal chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte to the Swiss Bar Association over her interview with the Belgrade daily Blic of Tuesday in which she said that the acquittal of General Ante Gotovina and General Mladen Markac by the tribunal's appeals chamber last week did not serve justice.

"Today we are preparing an ethics complaint to the Swiss bar against Del Ponte b/c of her interview in today's Blic," Gotovina's defence attorney Luka Misetic said in a message on his Twitter profile.

Del Ponte, a Swiss national, told Blic she was "really shocked because this is not justice," noting that she did not know what led to the acquittal after the trial chamber sentenced Gotovina to 24 years and Markac to 18 years in prison for war crimes committed during and after a Croatian military offensive, known as Operation Storm, which ended a Serb insurgency in Croatia in 1995.

Del Ponte claimed that the prosecution had gathered enough evidence to convict the two generals.
