Fire was opened from automatic weapons at the buildings housing the offices of two major Bosnian Croat parties - HDZ BiH and HDZ 1990 -- in Orasje as well as at houses of party and federal officials in that northern Bosnian town on early Monday morning.

An investigation is under way.

The police reported that it was still not known who had perpetrated this crime.

The targets of the attack were also the houses of Perica Jelecevic, HDZ 1990 vice president and minister in the government of the Croat-Muslim entity, and of Ivo Vincetic, a member of that political party.

Local police spokesman Josip Dominkovic said the police could not establish the motives of the attack.

The campaign for the Bosnian general elections, set for 3 October, proceeded relatively calmly until this incident.
