First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Radimir Cacic said on Wednesday that he was more optimistic than Croatian National Bank (HNB) Governor Boris Vujcic as far as economic expectations in Croatia were concerned.

Cacic made the comment in response to the HNB's forecast that the economic downturn in Croatia this year could be even greater than the HNB had estimated in June and there seemed to be no indicators of recovery as yet.

"The HNB has a static insight and analyses figures it has access to, while every government should have an insider's, more dynamic insight and should know what it is doing and where it is heading and that is why I'm more optimistic than the HNB governor", Cacic said.

In its June outlook, the central bank projected a GDP decline of 1.6% in 2012 and a growth rate of 1.3% in 2013.
