Spokesman for the Croatian Interior Ministry Krunoslav Borovec on Wednesday first declined to comment on the claim by Sreten Jocic, aka Joca Amsterdam, that Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko was behind the murder of Nacional weekly co-owner Ivo Pukanic, but later told that Jocic's claims were insane.
Borovec said that the Interior Ministry did not expect either Jocic to plead guilty to the murder.
Presenting his defence at the trial in Belgrade, Jocic said that Karamarko was behind Pukanic's murder, adding that he would submit evidence and introduce witnesses who would corroborate his claims.
Jocic said the Croatian authorities and Karamarko do not want Pukanic's murder to be solved, adding that they wanted to shift the problem to Serbia.
After the recess, Jocic explained that he did not mean that Karamarko organised Pukanic's murder, but that he was preventing the arrest of individuals connected to the murder. Jocic said that Karamarko was pointing the investigation towards Serbia and him.
