The Ministry of Public Administration said on Wednesday that enough signatures had been collected to call a local referendum on the construction of a golf course and accommodation facilities on Srdj hill overlooking Dubrovnik.
It said that the referendum question "Are you in favour of the urban development plan that allows the construction of a golf course and accommodation facilities on the Srdj hill plateau?" was in line with the law.
More than 20 per cent of over 40,000 voters registered in Dubrovnik signed the referendum petition between February 1 and 15. Under the law, the City of Dubrovnik must call the referendum within a month of receiving the ministry's decision.
The company Razvoj Golf, in a letter dated March 11, asked the ministry to declare the referendum question unlawful.
