The head of the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK), Dinko Cvitan, said on Friday that 39 people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the giving and taking of bribes and in abuse of office at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek.

Five university professors and a lecturer as well as 21 undergraduates were among the 39 arrested. They and other suspects, who were go-betweens in those alleged corruptive activities including bribery for passing exams, are to be questioned.

The Croatian anti-corruption investigating agency will inform about the developments in this case in a timely fashion.
