Assistant Foreign Minister Hrvoje Marusic said on Wednesday Croatia had received a positive signal from the European Commission concerning the possibility of applying for European funds for the construction of the Peljesac Bridge.
"Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic has been intensively communicating with European Commission representatives for several weeks, in her capacity as national coordinator of European affairs. We have received positive signals after preliminary talks," Marusic told Croatian Radio commenting on media reports that the government would apply for European funds to finance the construction of the Peljesac Bridge.
Marusic said a lot of technical details were yet to be discussed, adding that Pusic would discuss the issue with European Regional Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn as early as Monday.
"We can be optimistic, but it is not a done deal yet," Marusic said.
