Croatia's team won the bronze medal in the men's handball at the London Olympic Games after beating Hungary 33-26 in Sunday's bronze-medal decider.

This is the third Olympic medal for Croatia's national handball team, after being the Olympic winners in Atlanta and Athens, making up for losing bronze four years ago to Spain.

Croatia stormed to a five-goal halftime lead with yet more scores for tournament golden arm Ivan Cupic, the lively winger who finished the game as top scorer with eight goals with support from Blazenko Lackovic (seven). Domagoj Duvnjak (six) and Manuel Strlek (five) provided able support.

Croatian goalkeeper Mirko Alilovic kept 'Cowboys' firmly in control by repelling shots in the second half.

Currently, the Olympic medal score for Croatia since its independence is 22. Later on Sunday the national team will play against Italy in the gold-medal decider.

During the Summer Olympic Games in London, Croatians have thus bagged six medals.

The Croatian team first won the silver in the men's quadruple sculls, Sandra Perkovic then claimed the gold in the women's discus, and shooter Giovanni Cernogoraz won the gold in the men's trap, while Lucija Zaninovic won the bronze in the women's flyweight (under 49 kg).
