Twenty days after Mirela Holy resigned as the environmental minister, the same has been done her assistant Davor Skrlec, an energy expert and university professor. Having returned to scientific work, he decided to shed some light on the background of his resignation for the weekly Globus.
Skrlec says that Cacic asked him to amend the Statute of the Fund with the Environmental Ministry and change the employment criteria, in order to make room for hiring a prominent member of the Cacic’s HNS party. Skrlec did not want to do it, and then Cacic called him personally.
"Mr. Cacic was at lunch at the Government’s restaurant with the former minister and my boss Mirela Holy. Holy called me and told me that Cacic wanted to talk to me. When I contacted him, Cacic said: "Let's change the Statute and put Jambrac to the position of the deputy director of the Fund", (Josip Jambrac, president of the Zagreb County HNS branch). I replied to him that this was out of question, to which Mr. Cacic began to yell at me."
"Do you know who I am? Do you know who I am? I am the first vice president of the government and you are here not to think, but to do what I’m telling you to do", Cacic reportedly told him.
