Some 30,000 people gathered for a rally which was organised by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Novi Sad on Friday against what that party deems to be attempts of the northern province of Vojvodina to secede from Serbia.

Demonstrators in the protest rally demanded the resignation of the incumbent government of Vojvodina.

According to a police report, the rally passed peacefully.

The province government's Prime Minister Bojan Pajtic accused the current Serbian cabinet of having orchestrated the protest.
