Villagers from the hamlets of Todorovici, Culine and Bratici near Skradin in the hinterland of Sibenik were evacuated from their homes due to a wild-fire raging out of control on Sunday evening.

Later in the evening, fire-fighters managed to defend the houses in those areas, a local commander of fire-fighting units told the press.

Some 90 fire-fighters were engaged in battling against the brush fire in the Skradin area. Some of them arrived from the interior of the country to help their colleagues on the coast. The army and the fire-fighting airplanes are expected to join them on Monday.

The Croatian automobile club (HAC) reported on Monday morning that wild-fires were the reason to close some state roads in southern Croatia.

Thus, the state road section between Kula Norinska-Nova Sela, and also the state road from Skradin and Bribir and a local road from Rogotin to Kula Norinska were closed to traffic on Monday morning.
