Slovenian President Danilo Tuerk told Slovenian diplomats who gathered for a tradition meeting on Tuesday to consider possible partner cooperation with Croatia, once Croatia joins the European Union.
We need to think about a close cooperation with other EU members so that our voice in the integration process could be heard far and we also need to see if Croatia's future status creates new possibilities, Tuerk told the diplomats who gathered at Brdo pri Kranju.
Hypothetically, it is possible to image closer consultations between Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia in the context of decision making within the European Union. Many legitimate interest of those countries are harmonised. This is why their coordinated approach to topics the EU is dealing with could bring an interesting dimension in the European decision making process, notably in the coming years that will be critical for the EU identity, Tuerk said.
