Russian L. Gart died of heart failure, body flown to Russia

An autopsy has revealed that Russian citizen Leonid Gart, 39, who was found dead in the sea in the Brac Channel, southern Croatia on Sunday, died because of acute heart failure, the Split County Prosecutor's Office said on its website on Wednesday.

The autopsy revealed that there were no signs of fresh mechanical trauma on the body or of alcohol or narcotics.

County Prosecutor Rene Laura told the media that Gart's body was flown to Russia on Tuesday evening, accompanied by his wife.

Gart was the president of Russia's luge federation and, according to Russian media, a close friend of President Vladimir Putin.
